Can you believe it’s the end of October already!! Time flies when you are working as hard as I do. Between the supervisory work I do, the guard duty, and the counter cleaning I have to do daily, time just swooshes by. It amazes even me.
I don’t know about all of you, but I am looking forward to Halloween. I hear there is fun decorations to play with and good treats to eat!
As you can see, we are working on our decorations. I really liked this one, but I’m quite disappointed that they won’t put up those fun, fuzzy cobweb things. I keep hearing “well, Coco will eat those!” from the people who take care of my every want and need. Well OF COURSE I’d eat them, that’s what makes them fun! Geez people….
We have been seeing a LOT of new animals in here this month. I kind of like the smaller dogs, they are pretty interesting and they do funny things. I have to confess the big dogs are kind of scary though. They keep staring at me, and I don’t like that at all. I could do without all the cats coming in though. I like the kittens, they are pretty interesting and I’m bigger than them so they can’t take over my territory. The big cats though, they might want my spot on the counter, and we can’t have that!
I’m told the next holiday coming is Thanksgiving, and I’m REALLY looking forward to that one! Everyone cooks TURKEY for Thanksgiving, and I would really like my own turkey. I also want the feathers and maybe the gravy. Or, you can just make me a cat treat thanksgiving. I like cat treats more than anything, so that would probably be good.
I would like to take the time here to encourage people to check out the animal shelters this month! I’m told there are lots of pets out there that don’t have nice homes like I do, and I bet they’d love one in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas. So, if you are thinking about a new friend in your house, go check the shelters. Sometimes you even find Siamese like me. Well, not as great as I am, but close….

Annual Wellness Bloodwork
Your pet should have bloodwork run at least once a year! Annual bloodwork gives us a lot of very useful information about your pet. It acts as a snapshot and tells us how your pets internal organs are functioning. Bloodwork lets us catch a lot of problems prior to them becoming serious. For example, did you know that your pet’s kidneys can be 75% non-functioning before you see any symptoms in your pet? By doing annual bloodwork, we can look at trends in the blood values that let us catch things like early stage kidney disease, and treat your pet before he becomes symptomatic. This will not only prolong his life, but give him much better quality of life too!

Cats can be left OR right pawed! Studies have shown that male cats usually prefer their right paw, while females tend to prefer their left.
A cat’s paw contains a large number of nerves and sensory receptors. These help them hunt and to maintain balance. Because of this, they are very sensitive to temperature, pressure, and pain.
Cat paws sweat! The cat’s paws are the only part of their body that sweats, and help keep their temperature regulated.
